The Singing Project

Singing is continuing to help primary school LAC in Leicester settle into their new schools and classrooms. So far, the project has worked with 6 primary school aged children at 3 city primary schools. The Singing Project has also been featured on Radio Leicester (Friday 9th December 2016 at 08:24 on iPlayer) and in the Leicester Mercury (Monday 11th December 2016). The final evaluation of the Singing Project is now complete and has been sent to all stakeholders and strategic partners. Feedback has been extremely positive and has included a personal letter from Edward Timpson MP, Minister for Vulnerable Children and Families. We’re currently busy developing our 2 teacher resources for key stage 1 and 2 and are looking forward to releasing these soon.

Foster Carer Singing Training – 9th February 2017

We have a fantastic opportunity for Foster Carers to take part in a relaxed and enjoyable morning of singing with a Bullfrogger and a music facilitator from the LeicesterShire Schools Music Service. There will be time for a coffee and a catch up with time to also explore how singing can help improve emotional health and well being. We will also look at educational benefits of singing and how it can help with literacy and numeracy. The course takes place at the beautiful New Walk Museum. To book a place on this course contact foster-carers-training@leicester.gov.uk or call Chiquelle Patel on 0116 454 4510

Christmas Lights Switch On Success

To celebrate the Leicester Christmas Lights Switch On our Fostering Voices Choir and Bullfrog Staff Taiko Drummers took to the stage in front of thousands for an amazing and magical night of festive festivity. We’re so proud to be working in Leicester and share the magic of music with everyone at such a wonderful and public occasion. A massive well done to the choir for singing so beautifully and to the Bullfrog Staff Drummers on their first public appearance. Deck the Halls!

Leicester Riders Taiko Performance

We’re proud to say that some of the young people we work with performed Taiko during and at the half time interval of the Leicester Riders game against the Bristol Flyers on Friday 25th November 2016. Such a fantastic achievement for the young people involved performing to around 2000 people in the Arena. Well done one and all for what was a fantastic and successful evening of Sports and Music Making. Soh-reh!

Christmas Lights Switch On

We’re really proud and excited to let you know that our Foster Carers Choir ‘Fostering Voices’ will be singing at the Leicester City Christmas Lights Switch On. It takes place in November with the exact date yet to be confirmed. Also performing at the event for their first time in public will be our ‘Bullfrog Taiko’ group made up of our Bullfrog Staff. We’re very keen to share Japanese Taiko Drumming with the people of Leicester in celebration of all things Christmas.

Taiko Rhythms Programme

LeicesterShire Schools Music Service have now launched their Taiko Rhythms Programme in partnership with Bullfrog Arts. Together we’re introuducing Taiko Drumming to a wide range of educational institutions including both Mainstream and Special Schools across the city of Leicester. We’re really looking forward to working on the project, getting to work with new people and sharing our love of all things Taiko. Taiko drumming is such an amazing vehicle for social and educational development with it’s focus on discipline, teamwork and musicianship.

Bullfrog Arts Move Office

At the start of this academic term us Bullfrogers upped and moved office. We’re still in the wonderful LCB Depot in the cultural quarter with the superb eatery that is Gray’s Coffee Shop and Kitchen and we’re still on the top floor of the outside block. In fact we only moved a measly 25 metres or so to the end of the corridor into a larger office with an outside space. This has helped us with the storage conundrum of the superb Taiko Drums that LeicesterShire Schools Music Service purchased and kindly lent to us on a long term loan. The extra space will also come in handy when we host the partnership board meetings. Feel free to get in touch if you want to pop in, catch up and see our new workspace.
